Pack EV

What the singles inside a booster pack are worth, against what the pack costs. Expected value per pack across many packs — not what your next pack contains.

How to read this board

01 · WHAT THE NUMBER IS

The expected value of the singles in one pack, after a haircut for what you can actually realise on resale, against the pack price. Averaged over many packs — not a prediction about your next one.

02 · MOST PACKS ARE A LOSS

Negative ROI is the normal result and it is shown in red. Sealed product is priced by the people selling it, and they are not in the business of handing out edge.

03 · THE TOP 3 CARDS ARE THE WHOLE EV

The bar shows how much of a set's value sits in its top three chase cards. Where that share is high, the EV is really a lottery ticket on those few pulls.

04 · COLLECTOR SETS (SOURCED ODDS)

Sets marked "collector" (older, XY-era for now) use per-tier pull odds sourced from a validated third party rather than our own 8,000-pack samples, but the pack price and card values are still ours. Their deeply negative ROI is real: a sealed vintage pack is bought for the sealed nostalgia, not the singles inside — the EV just puts a number on that premium.
